Our Origin Story
Hi and welcome to Bekadee Books!
We are a family of three who produce children's books in the Wairarapa area of New Zealand.
Our book company was established in early 2026. As Avalyn's first birthday was approaching, we came up with the idea to create her a custom story. Her favourite animal was sheep and so we decided to create a fun, adventure story around that. Hence, Wool You Go To Sheep? was born!
Matthew wrote the story, and Rebekah created the illustrations. Within a month we had the book put together and we ordered a sample version of our book to present to our daughter for her first birthday. She absolutely adored the book! She loved looking at the drawings of the sheep and especially, our logo - she squeals everytime she sees it!
We enjoyed the process of making the first book, so we decided to create a second one! A more cartoony and silly story called Running Late Silly.
What started as a fun, little project to work on together for our daughter, has turned into a dream to turn what we love into a business.
